Everyone else's work looks polished and professional. Mine looks like a beginner's

Why this happens

You're following people who are years ahead of you. Your feed is calibrated to show you the best work of the most successful artists. You see their highlights, not their learning curve. The comparison is not between you and them — it's between your present and their present, which isn't the same distance for everyone.

FIX IT NOW

  1. Go through who you follow right now on Instagram or Pinterest
  2. Unfollow anyone whose work consistently makes you feel worse about your own — not because their work is bad, but because the gap is too large to be useful right now
  3. Search "procreate beginner" or "art progress 2024" and follow 5–10 artists at or near your level. Watching someone at your level improve in real time is more useful than watching masters produce finished work
  4. Keep 3–5 artists whose work you love as reference — but follow them consciously, for study, not for comparison
