All cards โ†’ ๐Ÿง  Mindset

I spent 20 minutes on Instagram and now I hate everything I've made

Why this happens

You compared your in-progress rough work to someone's finished, color-corrected, carefully selected highlight reel. Your brain doesn't process "their work is more developed than mine right now" โ€” it processes "I am worse." That's a threat response, not an assessment.

FIX IT NOW

  1. Close Instagram before reading the next step โ€” not after, now
  2. Open your piece and zoom in to 200%. Find one area โ€” one line, one color, one shape โ€” that genuinely works. Not "acceptable." Something you actually like
  3. Screenshot just that area. Save it to your camera roll. This is your foothold
  4. Continue from there. One thing that works is enough momentum to keep going

FOR NEXT TIME โ€” set a hard limit before you sit down to draw

iPhone: Settings โ†’ Screen Time โ†’ App Limits โ†’ add Instagram โ†’ 15 min/day. Breaking the limit when it hits requires 4 deliberate taps. That friction catches the spiral before it starts.
Android: Settings โ†’ Digital Wellbeing โ†’ Dashboard โ†’ tap Instagram โ†’ set a daily timer.
